Key Personnel

Sanders Geeson was founded by Mr. Jan Szczepanski with many years experience in industry and practice. He is assisted by Christine Geeson, similarly a Chartered Accountant, with extensive experience in practice accounting including several years with Grant Thornton.

Jan Szczepanski

Jan is a very experienced, versatile Chartered Accountant who also has a Law Degree and an international MBA from The Bradford Management Centre. He worked for over fifteen years as a Finance Director and Company Secretary in the UK and in Europe. His experience encompasses multi-site private businesses and plc subsidiaries across many sectors, both in services and manufacturing including fast growth businesses and start ups. Prior to working in industry, Jan trained with the well respected accountancy firm in Sheffield, Barber Harrison & Platt and subsequently with the international firm, Coopers & Lybrand in Leeds (now PriceWaterhouseCoopers).

Latterly Jan has worked with Central European business people helping them to establish their businesses in the UK and established Sanders Geeson, providing business support services for small business owners who are looking to start up or grow their business.

Jan has worked in many industry sectors including door manufacture, environmental services (spillage clearance & site remediation, jetting and tanker/tankering works), oil distribution, food, property repair services, export services including packing and freight forwarding, composite material manufacture, lubricating oil chemicals, textiles, professional services and mail order.

He established a track record for resolving finance/systems problems which have involved putting in strong financial controls, specifying systems and information requirements and subsequent implementation, business integration, reorganisation and turnaround, fraud investigation and involvement in an MBO process up to establishing the independent financial running of the business. Jan has recently received a Certificate under the Chartered Accountant's IFRS Award Programme and a Certificate in Financial Planning from the Personal Finance Society.

In 2005, Jan decided to establish Sanders Geeson to help startups and small business in the UK and Poland.

Christine has many years experience in practice accounting, concentrating on small businesses across a wide spectrum of industry sectors including start up entities. She trained and qualified with Grant Thornton. Christine has established a track record for professional and efficiently delivered work.

Marie joined us in July 2007 as a trainee accountant and is helping across many functions within the business, including web design.

Sylwia Palys has worked in finance in Polish production companies employing 200 to 800 people. She has got an MA (Economics) from the Economics Academy, Krakow, Poland and has joined us as an Assistant Accountant, responsible for our Polish clients, bookkeeping and payroll.


David Rice (Associate)

David has over 20 years experience in general practice and several years practical experience of business, through former employment as a Financial Controller of a group of companies and direct involvement in financial management of several clients over a number of years.

David founded David Rice Associates Limited based in Nottingham over 15 years ago. DRAL provide tax and strategic business planning and mentoring as core services, as well as dealing with the daily compliance issues faced by all his clients.


Mark Armitage (Associate)

Languages: Russian (good), French (good), Spanish (good), Czech (Intermediate) and Hungarian (Elementary) - his English is pretty good too!

Mark has a selling and marketing functional background and has worked extensively across Central and Eastern Europe and former Soviet Union, as well as other parts of the world including the UK. He has worked for De La Rue and the NCR Corporation at all levels from Regional Sales Manager to Regional Managing Director. Additionally Mark’s experience includes a position as Commercial Director of a start up IT business and as a Management Consultant. for a medium sized consultancy business, both businesses based in the UK. For the last three years Mark has been working as an International Regional Business Advisor for the ICT and Digital sector for the North West Development Agency and UK Trade and Investment, involving supplying management advice, planning and consultancy to UK SMEs, as well as acting as an interim Commercial Director for an SME business in the North West. Mark is also a Director in MOST UK Limited.
